  • FCP and VEGAS on the same MAC?

Posted by Ben Oliver on April 7, 2006 at 1:30 pm

    hey all, question here,

i love FCP and i also share the love of Sony Vegas Video, been using it since 2.0

    so, now that “bootcamp” exists,

when i finally move away from my powerPC macs, will i finally be able to run FCP and vegas on the same machine? what’s everyones take on this.

i love fcp for its durabiluty, but for some small tasks, like cutting photos, its cumbersome…and ive always wanted to have vegas’s photo, reziging tools at arms reach.

    this could be it!

You’ll just need to try it and find out. In theory, absolutely it should work. In reality, nobody knows until you try it out.

Interesting reading in this month’s MacAddict magazine about the new desktops coming out. Sounds like they are going to be incredibly fast with a new dual core chip from Intel that uses less power and generates far less heat. The speculation there is that the new machines might be smaller than the current G5’s so maybe we’ll be able to rack mount them again without cutting off the handles.

yeah, seriously, i mean, how DIFFERENT can the new powermac be, of the imac is handling sooo much. and the only reason they aren’t as small as the mini’s is that they h ave to case a screen.

honestly…..in the future i see apple making mini’s, imacs, and laptops. everythign else is just going to fit into one of those catagories.

There’s always going to be some group of users who need to add cards or internal drives to get their work done. Or will need to be able to upgrade their GFX card as faster ones are developed. Or will need the extra memory slots. Or…
