  • Can not import file even though can see in Finder

    Firstly I am a 99% Windows user, so excuse my ignorance.

    I have created a background rack for positioning called
    backrib.tga in 3ds max and want to position my Motion text over it.

    In Finder (file manager in PC speak) it sees it fine, but when I
    go to import the background in Motion, it does not show up in
    the file list!

    Could someone please help!

    Can you open the file in any other program? Photoshop perhaps? Try resaving the file in PS & then see if you can import it.

    Bottom line is I have to quit Motion, untill Motion will then see the file.
    The targa in question was 100% PC and Mac Readable; it was a question of the
    import window reading it.

    The timesteps:
    Loaded Motion and added text
    Then loaded Max and created backrib.tga
    Finder found the file, so did Viewer
    Motion File Import Window did not…

    Targas can be weird- esp if they came from a PC. I’d suggest opening in Photoshop on the Mac and resaving as a PSD or BMP.
