So any professional scanner had 1200 dpi at least.</p>
<p>It’s quite easy to understand. Imagine those old Apple LaserWriter Plus, their print output had been 300 dpi. That had been an amazing quality for t&hellip;</p>

<p>A used old MacBook with FireWire could work as well. </p>
<p>If quality matters I would prefer the UltraStudio since the Apple FW conversion/codec isn’t the very best. </p>

<p>This new format (package) probably was introduced to keep XMLs small and simple while introducing all this new tracking stuff. Latter can create huge amount of data. </p>
<p>This is also valid for other effects data. </p>
<p>So it’s not a real change of format &#8211; the XMLs are the same format &#8211; but an extension to keep data collections together. </p>

<p>You probably have to touch each caption anyway, the translator not. Typing timecodes also are known to error prone.</p>

<p>The detailed way: TC In, comma, tab, TC Out, comma, tab, Text (Spruce STL)</p>

<p>This is the easiest way for timed transcripts.</p>

These will always stay in &#8220;their language track&#8221; above all lanes and keep the connection to the audio/video clip they belong to and easily can be turned on/off. This is way better than in PPro or FCP Classic.</p>

<p>You are right. But PPro uses a &#8220;real closed caption track&#8221;. So every edit you make – like deleting a clip – has to be done to the  CC track upfront.</p>
<p>Using EG titles though will allow a ripple delete, still not that elegant and safe(!) as with FCP.</p>

<p>The only thing you make it somehow comparable – in regards of workflow – is to use &#8220;Titles&#8221; instead of captions.</p>

<p>Not completely true. Captions &amp; subtitles could be the same in some cases.<br />
Subtitles in most cases describe visual text for spoken words. Captions in common usage includes &#8220;audio description&#8221;.<br />

<p>Open the text with a text editor and insert a blank line where a new title should start. Save as new txt document.<br />
In XTI open the preferences. Set the <b>Default Gap</b> to 0, the <b>Min. Duration</b> and <b>Max. Duration</b> to fit an average duration of a caption like 4 seconds.</p>
<p>There are  two ways for FCP now: either Captions or Titles.<br />
