    That’s the answer: practice, practice, practice. Or buy your models from someone else. 🙂

  • Try exporting to FBX format. Cinema’s import/export supports all of these functions, but I don’t know how robust Max’s exporter is.

    Zaxworks claims that Invigorator supports .dxf format–did you try exporting to .dxf?

    Solution: first put the sphere in a null–then animate the sphere’s rotation.

    You could make the boolean editable and try the poly reduction object (in the deformers section). R9 has a “better bool” option that usually results in less chaotic geometry. I think it may have been available as a free R8 plugin (from Maxon), but I could be wrong about that.

    Or better yet, don’t use booleans at all unless you really have to. See if you can get along with the knife tool.

    Sounds like that should work. My question is, of course it would have been very simple if you’d used Cinema’s text splines to begin with (or avoided making them editable).

    >thanks for your reply. I do actually have a pc temperature monitor
    >programme. if it was that was the problem then the pc would restart
    >whenever.

    Not really. You’d experience it much more often with programs that stress your cpu, like Cinema for instance–particularly during rendering.

    >I only have this problem with cinema.

    Well, it’s probably not cooling then.

    The next best guess is OpenGL drivers. Try disabling OGL in preferences and see if that eliminates the problem.

    It sounds like you might have a PC cooling problem. I’d download a temperature monitoring program like MBM5 or Speedfan and see if that’s it.

    You can’t do this directly in Cinema, but there a number plugins that will do the job, including the free version of Path Deformer which you can find at the bottom of this page: https://www.tarabella.it/c4d/pathdeformer/

    I don’t know of a tutorial, but a few basics:

    * use fog, volume lights, or a depth pass to simulate depth fading;
    * use particles to simulate floating particulate matter;
    * use green/blue lighting;
    * shine a volume light through a plane with animated tex above the water to simulate light rays and caustics on the sea floor.
