Very strange, and a new one on me. Do the shortcuts still show up as being assigned in the Command Manager?

First, you have to have advanced render. Then you have to turn on global illumination.

Hi Cody,
You’re probably going to want to use a SweepNurbs object for this. Generally this works with a profile spline (a set of circles in this case) and a path spline. You drop both splines under the SweepNURBS object, with the profile being the first child.
Then you have controls that allow you to animate the start and end (here you would do end) as well as rotation and scale along the path.
For a bundle of tubes like this, you’d want to connect a number of circles into one spline using the … you guessed it … connect command.

Placing the texture on the light should work if you’re using volumetric (not visible) light. You also have to adjust the projection of the material (use flat and scale to fit).

I think there’s a wide range of Cinema users — some who use it exclusively, others who moved from Maya and other programs, some who use multiple programs concurrently, etc. Generally the more programs you know the better your chances will be of landing a job, but it all depends. As a freelancer, many of my clients don’t even know or care what program I use.
I would suggest you check out the employment adds in the NYC area to determine demand. My guess is that there would be plenty of work for Cinema artists as C4D is well represented in the broadcast and ad industries.

March 6, 2008 at 7:33 pm in reply to: 3D text in C4D, , move camera in After effectsNo, not possible I’m afraid. You’d need something like Zaxworks to get full-on 3D objects in AE.

Connect should work. Make sure you have only polygon objects selected (no nulls, nurbs, etc.) and then run the command. You should get a new object composed of all your poly objects. The originals won’t be deleted.
If you have nurbs objects you’ll have to make them editable first.

You’ll either have to use soft shadows or animate material transparency rather than the display tag.

Yes, I think it would be easier with Mograph. What I would do is animate x number of ant objects (probably 3-4). Then I’d put them in a cloner object set to radial mode, 0 circumference. Then I’d assign the cloner a random effector set to offset animation. That would do it.

Do you have the MoGraph module?
