I dont agree with your opinion of Apple store employees the ones in the store here in Salt Lake Utah are seem to realy know there stuff, but it probably depends on who you ask. You would want to ak the guys at the studio, from what I have been told they actualy have to get certified on the Apple Pro apps to work at the studio.

Your probably just not asking the right one. You cant realy expect all the Apple store employees to know all of the pro apps.

Media Manager doesn’t actually delete the media it creates a duplicate of your project in a specified location, if you select delete unused media it just doesn’t copy over media that is not used.

Double check to make sure you have enough open space on the drive, because like I said it makes a copy of your Final Cut project and used media. Then you can delete the old one.

I would go with the 15″ Core 2 Duo and get a extra display to leave at each location, that way you have some extra screan realistate but dont have to hall the display with you.

Hou will need to convert it to a FCP frenfly quicktime.

However the big iset broblem that you will be facing if the quality hit that the video will take before it gets back to DVD.

You are taking an already compresed vvideo (already compressed onto DVD before) converting it and then recompressing it.

In some ways it is similer to photocopying a photo copy the end image just isnt nearly as nice.

you NEVER said what type of video you are trying to add it to, with out your DETAILS there is not much help that can be given

Your first problem is that Final Cut Pro HD will not run on any intel mac you must have FCP 5.1 to use it on the intell macs.

Your second problem is that the graphics card on the Macbook is not supported by FCP 5.1 you will need a Macbook Pro.

Your third problem is that any version of FCP needs to bu installed on the system drive.

You need Final Cut Pro.

Final Cut Pro and Final Eut Express handel video differently.

To use HDV footage captured in Final Cut pro on another mashine you need to have the same version of Final Cut Pro on the other machine.

Another option is to install a second internal hard drive (it will be even faster then a firewire drive) and then use the external for backup.
