Remove tomato torrent from the computer then.
Torrents are tipicaly used to get ILEGAL copys of music, software, video etc, so you will not get much help with that here.

What format of HD (DVC Pro HD, Uncompresed HD, HDV)??
Are both you and your friend both using the save version of FCP?Use media manager to make the copy for you.
It will create a whole new project file as well.

Did you do an easy set up and pick the one that matches what you shot., once you have done that and created a new sequence you should be ready to do.
What camerea/deck are you using? Make shure the camera is not set to downconvert to DV (sony cameras have that option)

A lot of that dedends on the the iMac you plan to use an what format video you plan to edit.

This can be done with a simple .mac account.
You can set it up to so that people can access your .mac public folder from a web browser on ether a mac or windows.

I to am also confused you say you are on a macbook pro rinning FCP HD.
FCP HD (AKA FCP 4.5) will not run on a macbook pro you need FCP 5.1. FCP 4.5 is NOT Intel compatible only FCP 5.1 is.
