I have some text created in illustrator saved as a .ai (I’ve tried both jpeg and psd exports as well), imported into FCP, rendered using compressor dvd settings. I’m getting garble on the text. Is there some chain of exporting that I need to be aware of? Something else?

    Thanks,
    Eric

I’ll bet ya 10 to 1 he’s adding it to a DV timeline.

Eric, if I’m right right about that then I’ve just identified where that big hit on your text is coming from. The only way to preserve the quality is to uprez the project to DV50 or 8-bit uncompressed.

    David,

You’re right, I’m adding it to a DV timeline. I’ll try those settings.

    Thanks,
    Eric

    David,

I’ve noticed when ever I create text and/or graphic clips using LiveType, I don’t get this problem. Is that because LiveType is working in the 8 bit or DV50 compressions?

    Thanks,
    Eric
