I don’t believe that Walter ever said that the MacBook Air is a bad computer. It just does NOT fit his needs. People here do video, and the MacBook Air was not built to be a video machine in any way at all. It is a perfect machine for those who don’t need a powerful computer (yes there are people out there who do not need the power we do for video) people who travel a lot and are concerned with weight.

Try exporting a file with out quicktime conversion, just keep it the same settings as the time line. If it fails there then it could be that you are dealing with some bad/corrupt media.

Sounds like you do not have the pro version of flip4mac. If you only have the free version of flip4mac you only have playback capability and crippled export ability. You will need to purchase the pro versions.

FCS2 and FCP6 requires at least OS 10.4.x

The new FCS also requires quicktime 7, which is one reason wit wont work with 10.3
Please clarify what version exactly you are trying to install.

That depends on the settings you used to shoot with, You will want to use the same. HDV can use several different settings 1080i60, 720p24 for example.

Sony does 1080, but you will still want to know the FPS, as some Sony cameras will give the option for a 24fps.

No but you do want to make sure that your deck is not set to down-convert to DV on play back.
