No that’s not a proper editing format ether.

Look at the list of easy setups. Those are all proper editing formats.

[Roli Rivelino] “I’ve converted an flv to an Mp4”

MP4 files are NOT a proper editing format.

Convert to a proper editing format before importing into FCP.

    Two things.

1 make sure you transcode your footage to a proper editing format before you start to edit.
2 for 7 streams of video you are going to need a FAST taid to handle playing back that many streams of video at once.

Your second photo has some chromatic aberration which is why there is a slight purple haze on edges. This typically is found in lower end lenses.

Both images however are not fully in focus. What focus mode is your camera set on?

  • flip cams record in h.264 format, witch is NOT an editing codec.

FCE can only work in DV or AIC codecs so you need to convert your video to one of those before you try and edit.

[Jean Walker] “The director’s notes say that the project was shot at 24p, 1080i…”

Well it cannot be both p and i.

Its ether progressive or interlaced. NOT both.

[Damon Packard] “A client is sending me a project in the Pro Res 422 HQ format”

[Damon Packard] “I’m still using a last generation dual 2.3ghz G5 PPC, it just doesn’t have the processing power.”

Not just lack of processing power. The ProResHQ codec is part of FCP 7 which your computer cannot run because it does not have an intel processor.

So you will not even be able to play the footage on your machine.

Your ether going to need to get a newer machine and the FCP 7 or your going to need to have the footage converted on a different machine.
