deck not recognized when trying to capture

That depends on the settings you used to shoot with, You will want to use the same. HDV can use several different settings 1080i60, 720p24 for example.

Sony does 1080, but you will still want to know the FPS, as some Sony cameras will give the option for a 24fps.

No but you do want to make sure that your deck is not set to down-convert to DV on play back.

There are no “technical solutions” to your “artistic problems”.

Robin, I’m having the same problems! It works very intermittently. I had it there for long enough to log & capture for a day, but now, a few days later, no luck!

Same settings, three cables (changed them just in case), tried a DV tape with DV settings (just in case the HDV was the problem). Still no luck.

Have you found any solution yet?

Here are settings that I got to work:

Audio/video settings:

Seq preset: DV NTSC 48 Hz

Capture preset: HDV
Device control Preset: Sony HDV Firewire
