You need three layers.
One at the back would be your Template Layer or a group.
After this layer you need to position your rendered movie that you want to break. (to break it you need to use Shatter filter from Boris FX, this in my opinion is the best Shutter filter for Motion or you can use fxtiles from https://www.boinx.com/fxtiles/overview/).Then you need to animate your third object (Logo) to come from behind the camera. Open the position of the object and animate Z position of your logog. When you reach your desired position of the logo then animate the shutter of your rendered video. So that it looks like it crashes into video and breaks it apart.
Best of luck

You have few options:
See my animation in which I have used this plugin at: https://embryo.me.uk/wp/2009/09/17/shutter-3d-animation/
1: https://www.boinx.com/fxtiles/overview/
Or you can use Boris FX:
Example at: https://embryo.me.uk/wp/2009/09/06/review-of-boris-continiuum-6/ and https://embryo.me.uk/wp/2010/08/11/boris-continuum-complete-7-fxplug-review/I hope this helps

HI back,
I think you got yourself an answer, you have to try all three types of frame blending and you ultimately need to decide which result looks good to you. It is misconception that Optical Flow creates best results.
Also if you have finished with Optical Flow, make sure you go to Preferences which is under the Motion menu/ then go to Caches and Press the button that says Delete Retiming Cache…. -

September 11, 2010 at 11:28 pm in reply to: Double Alpha Overlays and Tranisions In Apple MotionI think you meant to say that it has alpha rendered separately to the movie. When you render your final animation do you get two movies, one colour and one black and white. If you do then use the black and white movie and drop it in the mask. I think Mark Spencer have created a tutorial on his website a year ago where he actually uses two movies as I have explained above to create a mask.
I think you need to see this video tutorial, make sure you say thanks to Mark for making this tutorial free so that we can all learn from it. https://pixelcorps.cachefly.net/macbreak-157-540p-h264a.mov
I hope this helps, do let me know please….

I know that it might sound mad. But can you try to open this image in Photoshop then copy and past this image in another photoshop documnet, then add a very small amount of Blur, then save it as RGB/JPG image and import it into motion again.
I think it is your image that is corrupted rather than Motion problem.Anyway try this and let me know.

try delighting the preferences of motion. this is always the first thing you need to do when something goes wrong in motion.
You can resolve many issues by restoring Motion back to its original settings. This will not impact your project files. To reset your Motion user preference settings to their original state, do the following:
1. In the Finder, go to ~/Library/Preferences—the tilde (~) represents your Home folder.
2. Drag the “com.apple.motion.plist” file from the Preferences folder to the Trash. Also check that your image is RGB not a CMYK colour mode.
see if this helps… -

Hi guys,
Motion have a backup save folder in which it saves all documents at different intervals. Being that the motion projects are very small it is always good starting point to look for file before all went wrong. look in your user folder/documents/motion documents/autosave vault. Also it is always good practice to render parts of the projects if you are finished with it and then bringing them back as movies. Make sure you also lock groups is a must as strange things can happen to you projects. In addition to this always save your ptoject with say test_001, test_002 and so on every time you work on a project. This will allow you to have many projects so that if anything goes wrong you have to go one before and continue to work without trying to fix unfixable. I wish we have the stability of the program as after effects users have.
