If you’re using still images, then the resolution of the photos is probably way too high for Motion to handle it. I would use Photoshop to drop your images resolution from 300 to 72, but make sure you unclick “Resample Image.” This way the pictures will maintain their quality, but the file size will drop within the region that Motion can handle. (Others here can probably explain it much better).

This is a bit off topic, but am I the only one who thinks it’s going to suck when we all our movies are downloaded? Specifically because there won’t be any cool packaging. I’ve got some great records, DVDs and CDs that came with amazing packaging, and that’s all going to be a thing of the past when they move over to the download model. Oh well.

I’ve actually been playing with this just with trailers I downloaded in 1080p from Apple’s website. The 5.1 audio works great when using the Appl TV preset, but I haven’t been able to get it to export in 1080p or have 100% success. Sometimes they play and sometimes they won’t. Very frustrating.

Thanks for the tips Denny, and though I have an Intel MacPro so I could install Windows on it, I’d prefer to stay within the Mac environment.

However, I am thinking that if I can produce enough income from Blu-Ray authoring that I may make a portion of my hard drive a windows machine. From I hear there are better and a wider array of professional level blu-ray authoring applications. But for now, I’m sticking with what I know and need.

I’ve got a question about this as well.

Many of the projects I create that go to DVD, typically only need the simplest of menus and actually need to loop. I do this all the time with DVDSP with no problems at all, but I’m prepping for an HD title that needs a super simple menu, with the video actually looping (only going to the menu if you press the menu button on the remote). Is this possible with the new Roxio Toast 10 Pro? I’ve been up and down their support pages searching, but it’s not specifically called out for looping. And like I say, I don’t need the high-power that Adobe Encore has because my projects don’t require it.

I typically run the other way if someone mentions nests in FCP. I’ve never had any luck with them unless I use them the way Walter described for bringing everything down to one layer and not editing after that. But even then I’ll have problems with audio and missing media.

I’d suggest, as did David, that exporting out some self contained QT’s of each sequence and then cutting is the best procedure.
