    April 30, 2009 at 12:32 pm in reply to: Another Rumor

    Although, I really enjoy reading the rumors, it would be really nice if we had a “rumor control” forum. Get these rumor threads out of the discussion/help forums. Another neat thing of having a forum just for rumors would be that it’s for all the programs that the Cow has invested time in creating forums for. So, you might get a chance to see what else is going on in other circles that you might normally not travel in.

    BTW, I know this has been suggested before, but I figured what the heck.

  • I’ve had similar problems before and they were always attributed to lack of room left on my hard drive, or they were symptoms of a hard drive that was about to fail. I might back up everything you’ve got to another hard drive (if you haven’t already).

    It totally does look like a bar sign from Blade Runner!

    I actually kinda liked it at first. Then I went back and tried to think about what I liked about it, and I couldn’t figure out what it was. Now, I’m thinking I don’t really like it at all.

    And yeah, totally ’80’s, but the ’80’s are back in a big way. Is that a good thing? I don’t know.

    April 28, 2009 at 12:30 pm in reply to: motion so SLOW!

    There’s another trick that I’ve been using quite bit recently, and I’m on a Mac Pro with 512 MB VRAM.

    As I finish comps in my Motion project, I’ll bake the elements that are complete (at least until I get feedback from the client) and then I can add more elements with limited slow down. It’s easier for Motion to handle alpha channel movies then it is to have tons of groups with tons of elements in them.

    This has sped up my workflow quite a bit even when I have to adjust and “re-bake” certain elements.

    April 28, 2009 at 12:25 pm in reply to: Can I run Motion with 128 MB of VRAM?

    Motion-Specific Requirements

    * A standard or built-to-order system configuration with a NVIDIA GeForce 5200, 6600, 6800, 7300, 7800, 8600, 8800 or Quadro class graphic card.
    * A standard or built-to-order system configuration with a ATI Radeon 9600, 9700, 9800, X800, X1600, X1900, or X2600 class graphic card.
    * For 16- and 32-bit rendering: a graphics card with at least 128MB of VRAM.

    Personally, I think you’ll be in for a world of hurt, because I’ve got an X 1900 XT with 512 MB of VRAM, and I can very quickly max it out.

    DoStudio looks incredible! If I had an extra $3k lying around I’d be all over it, even though, if I’m honest with myself, all I need is what Toast 10Pro can give me. Oh well.

    April 9, 2009 at 6:10 pm in reply to: How to pour something?

    Someone here may correct me, but I believe the best way to shoot this, is going to be using a black background. Your project seems very similar to shooting fire or snow flakes that you want to key out the background and composite over over video, and I’ve been told shooting those over a black background is best. Hope this helps!

    I love the clown editing, but honestly, I could do without unless they fixed Media Manager. Any word if they fixed it on the iPhone version?
