Activity Forums Apple Final Cut Pro Legacy Another Rumor

  • Posted by Chris Babbitt on April 29, 2009 at 4:16 pm

Sorry to raise a sore subject once again, but I just saw this on one of the rumor sites:

“One forum poster points out that the latest iTunes 8.2 beta carries references to Blu-Ray data from Gracenote, suggesting that iTunes could support the reading/recognizing of Blu-Ray discs. This note is not present in the current version of iTunes”

    Hmmm….

I don’t get it; if it was ready, NAB would have been a logical time to publicize it, exhibit or no exhibit. My guess is it either must not yet be technically ready,(testing incomplete) or the Apple and Sony lawyers are STILL in the Thunderdome.

It’s like Apple is insisting I buy Sony and Adobe products and PC products to do the BD work I want to do within an all-Apple framework. It does not compute. Anyway, here’s to rumors (chugs a slurp of Jolt cola).

    Something to consider…

Gracenote has nothing to do with Apple per say except that iTunes uses Gracenote for identifying disc media.

I would have to assume that eventually Gracenote would have to insert Blu-Ray titles into their database and iTunes is also used on PCs that have Blu-Ray drives installed on them. Thus to keep up with competetion, iTunes will have to support Blu-Ray in some form.

could be a lot of things, it could also be that Mac will have BluRay players and software to watch, but that doesn’t mean DVDSP will be able to author them.

Hmmmmm….I was wondering how long it would take for ANOTHER rumor to show up on here………

I was talking to my dog earlier and she was telling me that Apple is going to release BluRay Studio 1 at the WWDC in June. The new MacBooks will include a BluRay burner for just $100 and the new Mac Pros will have BluRay burners standard. She’s a good dog and has never lied to me before……

It’s a she, her name is Molly. You can see her bio here, just click on Molly’s name.

You should see her run Snow Leopard on the MacBook near her bed. The new Dog Friendly features with the bark recognition is astounding. She’s able to get onto Petsmart.com and order new toys before I even realize she’s gotten the credit card out of my wallet.

I always wonder why some of you get so uptight over rumors and in some cases quote the Apple company line. People talk about it because they are excited and looking forward to the latest greatest. Personally, I think they are fun. I even like when they are wrong because I think that Apple is putting out the false ones to find the leaks. It’s as if some are saying that you shouldn’t even speculate. Why not? Lighten up just a little. There’s some heavy stuff happening in the world right now. Having fun with a couple of rumors is no big deal in comparison.

Glad you noticed that not everyone here is uptight… I even have a sense of humor. That’s clearly not a prerequisite here unfortunately.
