So I figured out that it was only happening to text that was center justified. The text that I had justified to the left (default) does not encounter this problem. Wow, what a completely annoying bug to encounter! Guess if I want things center justified, I’m going to have to use Sequence Text from now on. Gosh, that’s a pain in the butt.

FCP doesn’t like anything except WAV or AIFF. You can get mp3s to import, but they are generally too low quality and have to be rendered if you want to hear them.

And if you’re doing this as a personal project and don’t plan on making money off of it, you can use the purchased songs, but as soon as you try to make money off of this project with purchased music, you will be in BIG BIG TROUBLE!

My advise to you is to make some music based on what you downloaded using GarageBand. It’s a lot easier than you would think (even for a non-musician such as myself). Of course if you have the money to buy the rights to those songs, or to pay someone to create new music for you, then by all means do that.

Thanks. I checked, but everything is setup properly. Although I would think all the text would do this weirdness, not just the two phrases “triple offer” and “money back guarantee.”

Side note, if I render everything in FCP, the artifacting goes away everywhere except in one place for exactly one frame.

There’s actually a pretty easy way to do this with just one particle emitter that I did with the pro-training book (Lesson 8).

Get all your pictures of the different post-it notes and make sure they are named sequentially, so that when you’re in Motion, they should up as an image sequence. Drag that image sequence to your canvas and create a particle emitter with it. Make sure the “Play Frames” check box is checked in the Emitter tab, and then adjust your emitter for your needs, including making it 3D. You can then add your gravity, wind, etc behaviors to heighten the reality. Hope this helps!

I used the Apple Certified book, and though there are small things missing here and there, it increased my productivity – and therefore my quality – by a substantial amount.

These are all probably things you’ve already tried, but here goes…

Make sure that none of the image files are larger than 72 DPI. Just use Photoshop to change the dpi down to 72 while retaining the size of the image.

Export out one side, then export out the next side, then do a render that exports out both.

Try using Compressor instead of Motion to render out the files. I’ve had some luck with that.

Do you need to change the logos for every episode, or do they stay the same? If they stay the same, I suggest “baking” the Group of logos in Motion. In other words, just export out an animation file with alpha of just the logos – File > Export Selected – and import that movie file into the Motion project and save your template. This has worked for me when I get glitches in rendering Motion files in FCP.

If I were going to do this, I would have my base image, and apply 3 mattes to it; one for the top, one for the middle, and one for the bottom. Then apply the Fade In/Out to each matte. You’ll need to adjust the length of each matte depending on if you want to reveal what’s on the bottom layer, or cover it up.

Yeah, sounds like you’ve got enough space.

Correct me if I’m wrong guys, but those files you’re seeing in the trash are render files. I didn’t think FCP automatically trashed old render files (just auto saves beyond a certain, user specified point).

I’m not going to tell you to trash your preference, but I will say that I’ve done it in the middle of projects and suffered no ill effects.

If you decide to do so, go to your User > Library > Preferences > com.apple.FinalCutPro.plist and dump that.

I didn’t make myself completely clear. Sorry about that. What I mean is that there’s enough room to write, but very little. Since most drives need at least 15% free hard drive space to operate normally, if you go beyond that, the drive starts to slow, and I’ve had anomalies like the ones described earlier.
