I already responded to your original thread down below, but since you insisted on creating a new thread…. If it does not specify Final Cut Pro for an install location you probably have the AFX version of the plug-ins which means they will install into After Effects only.
At this point contact Boris Fx via borisfx.com and ask them how to install it or visit the Boris forum here on the Cow.

I’ve used a lot of products from Dr. Bott and they all have worked perfectly. In fact I just installed a 10 foot ADC Extension cable for the ATI X800xt card and my 23″ Cinema Display and no problems.

I wonder if the project is corrupted somehow.
You could try creating a New Project with a New Sequence. Then go into your original Sequence, Copy All, then Paste everything into the New Sequence. If the audio waveforms show up there, then your original project has gotten corrupted somehow. You can literally drag everything from the old project over to the new one and just give it a revised name.

A very solid config is FCP 4.5 with OS 10.3.8. Been running that since 10.3.8 came out and it’s completely solid. However, we have now learned that FCP 4.5 is not frame accurate enough to edit correctly to HDCAM consistently everytime so we just upgraded to FCP 5.0 / 10.4.1 with the latest Kona 2 drivers.
Four hours of testing last night so far showed that everything was very snappy and responsive and the Fibre Channel drives are really cooking. Graphics look a lot better in the DVCPro HD codec and the overall processing of DVCPro HD looks better in FCP 5. We’re about to cut 6 HD episodes of a broadcast show over the next two weeks with 2 systems running FCP 5/ 10.4.1 so I’ll let you know how it goes.

The quick and easy way to do this is to pick up a DVD Recorder from your local Circuit City, Best Buy, etc… then take the Component Feed and RCA audio directly out of the Kona 2 set to downconvert and record to the Disk. I do client approval DVD’s like this all the time and it’s much faster than using iDVD or DVDSP since it works just like a VCR.

If you have the codec on your machine, I don’t see why not. I’ve not worked with IMX at all, though I have the Sony J3 machine that can playback IMX tapes via SDI.

one more word of warning, my monitors went to sleep last night during a long render and the monitors would not wake back up this morning. That’s never happened on this system in the year that I’ve had it running with the old ATI card and then the nVidia 6800 card. Luckily I was able to at least his Apple S and then restart the machine by forcing the power down.

What kind of drives are you using? I was capturing / editing with FCP 5 last night with surprising responsiveness. Certainly a LOT faster than FCP 4.5 was and scrubbing wasn’t a problem.
My system is a Dual 2.0 with the ATI X800xt, Kona 2 and the Medea FCR2X Fibre Channel array.

There is no “DV Uncompressed.” DV is compressed 5:1 by nature and that’s as good as it gets. Uncompressed is 8bit or 10bit SD / HD. If you’re going to try to render your DV timeline up to an uncompressed timeline, be sure to set all the video on vertical line 1. 8bit SD is approx. 20mb/sec.

A single System Disk will not handle uncompressed, Firewire 400 will not handle uncompressed. You will require at least a Firewire 800 and preferrably a RAID version like the Big Disk Extreme from LaCie or the G-RAID from G-TECH. Image quality will be the same. Your graphics and renders will be cleaner.
You will also need a capture card or something like the AJA Io to be able to capture uncompressed.

If everything lines up correctly, you should just have to re-render.

Uncompressed graphics and titles are always cleaner than DV graphics and titles.

I usually just copy and paste from a text file when a client bring them in. I usually use Text 3D as my titler of choice.
