We’re having some trouble with our 30inch Cinema Display. We need to run a DVI extender and the one we’ve purchased from Gefen doesn’t want to hold the signal. Was wondering if any of the editors here have had sucess with a particualar brand of DVI Extender?

    Thanks

I’ve used a lot of products from Dr. Bott and they all have worked perfectly. In fact I just installed a 10 foot ADC Extension cable for the ATI X800xt card and my 23″ Cinema Display and no problems.

Thanks for the tip. After poking around on their website I learned the Dr.Bott Extentions won’t go further then 3m (needs a signal boost) or work with the 30inch model. Any other ideas?

    Thanks again.

    Hi,
to use with 30 inches, you need gefen’s DVI2000HD. I’ve tested many devices and extension cables and
finally found that is the only solution usable for 30 inches(DualLinkDVI)

Wow that is really expensive. Does it matter if I’m not going to run any HD to the monitor? I don’t need it to run that far either, something like 10ft-15ft. Thanks for the advice though, I’ll pass it along to our IT department.

    Jonathan,
yes it is quite expensive. but other stuff like extension cable introduces noise on display, sometimes such cable seems to work but maybe after half an hour of use, you’ll find some noise on display. It doesn’t matter what application you use. it’s only because of 30 inches, and noises appear and would be more visible if the background color is black. I think the extension cable works ok on displays smaller than 23 inches.
