FCP5 audio waveform failure
Posted by Chris Poisson on June 21, 2005 at 1:39 amIn the middle of the same project that I had capture problems with, I suddenly lost the waveform on audio track 1, but not 2 or any of the others.

June 21, 2005 at 11:57 amIs there actual audio on that track? Meaning, you can solo Track 1 and you hear audio?

June 21, 2005 at 1:05 pmHey Walter,
Yes, there is audio on it, if I drag the tracks to 3 and 4 I can see the waveform in both. It just seems weird that track one is invisible. Weirder still, this happened mid-edit, yesterday morning I could see it and later in the day it went away. Everything else about the project seems fine.

June 21, 2005 at 1:38 pmI wonder if the project is corrupted somehow.
You could try creating a New Project with a New Sequence. Then go into your original Sequence, Copy All, then Paste everything into the New Sequence. If the audio waveforms show up there, then your original project has gotten corrupted somehow. You can literally drag everything from the old project over to the new one and just give it a revised name.

Ya know, this is EXACTLY what I was thinking on my run this morning, and I was wondering about how to do it. Thanks a bunch!

June 21, 2005 at 10:40 pmAnother thought – I once had a similar problem, it turned out the hard drive containing my waveform scratch files was full – had gillions of files in there from past projects. Deleted them and designated a larger disc, problem solved.

Worked awesome, and we finished the rough cut of a 15 minute show just before the client got here, and just two nitpick changes!
Ken,
Good thought, but my drives have loads of space left.
