  • A screen shot would help- do you have any 2d layers in between your 3d layers? If so, then your problem comes from that- a 2d layer interrupts the 3d space in AE so 3d layers will not interact with 2d layers in between .

    This may help:

The knitting part though may be tricky – all I can think of is to use ShapeShifter AE and a animated displacement mask combined with an animated texture that can give the impression of the text being knitted.

Here’s a quick idea I had- maybe you can use it.

Can you post a image that is close to what you’re envisioning? It would make it easier for us to understand the issue.

I’ve experienced similar issues with Premiere CS6 and the solution was to update the videocard drivers- maybe it’s a similar situation? Try updating to the latest drivers and see if it eliminates the problem. Also, in some situations if you have the 3D settings on your video card set to override the app settings you may get issues like this- so go in the Properties/3D Settings and make sure that “let the application decide” is checked.
    Hope it helps.

Unless you have a motion control rig that you used to shoot the two, there will never be a perfect match between them, therefore you can’t have one smooth move with just the character changing. There will need to be a morph between the two shots. Line them up, put the transparency of the one on the top layer at 50% and see at what point they are matching as far as framing and position- that will be the mid point of your morph.

Here’s a screen shot of the setup I thought of:

There’s a Color Range Key, a Matte Chocker and a duplicate layer with a garbage matte. One way to get good edges in this situation is to create the impression of a white spill/glow on the subject. It will hide the imperfections- that is if the client approves this look.

  • Without a few screen shots is hard to give advice, but I would create several instances of the food as it disappears, then morph in between and add crumbs as the man bites from it or takes from it with a fork/spoon… again this may not be the animation you’re after but without an example we can’t be more specific.

  • Use the Scale Composition script that comes with AE- this wil resize the comp with everything in it.
