  • Any suggestion on making making eating animation

Posted by Richard Windsor on November 27, 2012 at 2:22 pm

I am making something where an animated person is eating a pile of food. I have the person animated and looks fine but I am struggling to make the food disappear in a realistic manner. My first attempt I used a mask and animated it and that took forever but really didn’t look that good.

I was just wondering if anyone has a suggestion on how to do this easier or better?

If the animated person is eating that pile of food in one go then you can make a matte layer of the animated man and use it as Alpha Inverted matte for the food layer. This will save your time and gives you clean edges.

Can’t say much without seeing the animation.

Without a few screen shots is hard to give advice, but I would create several instances of the food as it disappears, then morph in between and add crumbs as the man bites from it or takes from it with a fork/spoon… again this may not be the animation you’re after but without an example we can’t be more specific.
