Out of curiosity- am I the only one that is frustrated by the lack of support for non Nvidia cards? I would have thought that this will be a feature requested by a lot of folks.

What codec did you use for the .mov file?
What system are you on- Windows/Mac?
What OS?
What version of AE?
System specs can be helpful as well.
Remember to add the above info as it makes it easier to narrow down the issue.

I got my money’s worth though from a Dell XPS H2C though- still have it after 5 years and with an updated card I am still doing work on it.

In order to generate various synced animations from the same piece of music you need a plugin like Sound Keys:

64 is better. If you will use the 3d features in CS6 and Premiere Pro, then it is worthwhile investing in a Nvidia card.

You can always duplicate a layer, select it, select your reference edit in the Project window, hold Alt and drop over the duplicate layer to replace it.

RAM is what makes AE very happy. CS6 and up will benefit from Nvidia cards. Also, a SSD for cache will help.

Mocha Pro uses planar tracking but it can also create a clever 3d camera solve- if you have access to that you may want to give it a shot.

You can use a 3d camera tracker (the Foundry plugin in CS 5.5 – CS6 comes with one). You just need to mask out the kid from the track.

Use ShapeShifter AE- it preserves the image.
