is there a way to cut and paste a mask to fit the same footage of a different scale?
Hi
i have a peice of footage that i rotoscoped by hand and exported. When i bring it back in to AE the mask won’t cut and paste to the new dimension of the exported footage.
The original footage scale in AE was –50 , 50 and the new footage scale is 100, 100. When i cut and paste the mask it is flipped and at the 100 size of the orignal footage which is larger than the new imported size.
is there a work around for this?

The mask is flipped and lager in size because your original footage was flipped Horizontally i.e. along x-axis and was 50% of rendered footage as it is clear from the negative 50% scale value that you have given.
Select your original footage layer in Timeline, Right click on it , Go to Transform and select “Flip Horizontal”, bring the size back to 100,100 and then rotoscope it again.

You can also change the shape of mask by double clicking on it. Just place it above the rendered footage and drag the left center point to the right side to flip the mask in opposite direction. Now reduce the size by dragging the top left or top right point while holding shift and bring it exactly over the rendered footage.

Found something useful for you:“If you want the mask size to match a scaled layer then you must pre-compose the layer by selecting it then go to Layer>Pre-Compose (keyboard shortcut is Shift + Ctrl/Cmnd +C) and select Move All Attributes to the new composition. Now the pre-composition will be the at 100% scale so when you paste a mask it will be the same size and in the same position as it was when you copied it from the original layer.”

Use the Scale Composition script that comes with AE- this wil resize the comp with everything in it.

That last link is what worked for me.
i used the older layer with the mask already rotoscoped on it as a alpha matte track on the new color corrected layer and now i’m rolling foreward.
Of course it’s more layers in the project but i have 100 shots to roll thru!
