Or you could use the text layer to Track Matte from for the Adjustment layer: duplicate text layer, move above the adjustment layer, check track matte switch on the adjustment layer.

Add a 3d camera move, make the logo appear somehow- animate each letter/element.

That being said, Make sure you apply Particular to your top 2d layer, always keep that on top, and enable obscuration layer- Particular will read the 3d info of all layers below.Tudor “Ted” Jelescu

Parent a colored rectangle to text layer, put that under the layer with the word that needs it as background and select track matte inverted- you will get the effect from the example you posted. Of course if you need to put background to one word in a line, you will need to have that word on a separate text layer and if you need to make the background appear and disappear living the word behind, you need to duplicate the text layer with that word and place one under the background layer + change opacity.

I just thought of another way- if you have a nice looking image of fibers, you can apply Mesh Warp to simulate the fibers coming closer.
One more option- use Zaxwerks Invigorator: create fiber shapes in Illustrator, import as separate objects, position in Zaxwerks 3d space and animate them getting closer.Tudor “Ted” Jelescu
