    3dStroke could be an option
Or Trapcode Particular, using animated paths.
    Here’s a tutorial that may help;

  • Once you have the tracking done, here’s a few suggestions (with some tutorial links tha tmay give you ideas) of what you can use to generate 3d text/objects in AE:

    Zaxwerks Pro Animator,Invigorator

August 31, 2010 at 7:02 pm in reply to: Animating a conveyor belt in a 3d space

It depends a lot on how your conveyor belt looks and how much do you see from it. If the ends come in and go out from under some sort of boxes, then it’s quite easy: take the image of the belt from PSD, import in a comp the length of what the belt should be in between the out and in points, animate to create a loop- render and import using the loop option set to a high number.
If you can see the ends, where the belt rolls under a rotor, that’s a bit trickier. Use the same loop as above. If you have Zaxwerks Invigorator – texture 2 cylinders with belt. Move cylinders to the ends and animate rotation to match the movement of the horizontal part of the belt. Cover ends with rotating discs. I am not sure if you can create the same cylinders with CC Cylinder…?
Here’s a tutorial using Zaxwerks Pro Animator that you can use:

From what I know, the plug-in you’re trying to use is meant to work when you actually have a 3d comp ( layers in 3d space) and not to convert 2d to 3d.
In order to do that you need to fake it. Here’s the first in a great series of tutorials on how to do that:

Particular will do the trick as well. Link particle emitter to a light and move that in 3d space in AE.

  • Not seeing the actual image is kinda’ hard to guess, but here’s a couple of things to try:
Comp grass (mask some from back layer) in front and use puppet tool.
Or try to distort using mesh warp.

  • If the actor is leaning to the side on the wall, just make sure you build that wall in front of the screen at a good distance so that it will not cast shadows on it. Make the wall green as well and make sure you get few clean plate shots to make keying a lot easier. I presume that the wall will show at some angle and that’s why you are worried- cause if it’s just a straight on shot, then there’s no problem.

Working in 32 bit should have given you nice smoke gradients. Just to be sure you checked all these:
Working in 32 bit- do not check linearize working space or blend using 1.0 gamma. Render 32 bit tga/tiff then compress using other software (Adobe Media Encoder).
Is the footage of smoke compressed? If so, try rendering out a sequence of uncompressed stills of it before comp-ing over the AE scene.

  • First thing you need is a “military looking” font – maybe LED could do it for ya.
    Write the text you need.
Animate a simple rectangle mask to reveal the text over time- good speed is about one frame per character.
Create green shape layer- a rectangle about the size of a letter.
Animate that- a few frames of on and off at the beginning, without moving (turn opacity to 0 and next frame to 100 for a few frames), then animate to follow the edge of your mask as it reveals the characters. Stop one space after the last letter, make blink again.
Add sound fx for best result.
