I agree with jeff. I make a lot of stuff that is shown at my church, whose projectors are a little old, and not quite bright enough and whose sound system is very low and high heavy, but midrange light. I have to customize the sound for the auditorium viewing as well as the picture.

You won’t have problem capturing long clips. But there is no way for a computer to recognize a speaker and have it automatically put their lower third in. That is what humans are for. Assuming you have all your lower thirds (photoshop, png, motion, After efffects) in a folder in your bin, you will have to manually drop theimage into the correct place on the timeline. You can certainly make it faster by scrubbing through the timeline faster until you see someone you want to put a lower third under.

Or, an even easier way to copy filters. Click the Filters tab inthe viewer to show the filter and it’s settings. Go to the timeline and select all the clips you want to copy them to. Use whatever selection method you like: command/select, drag select, etc. Then, from the viewer, select the filter and drag it to the timeline over the selected clips. DONE.
do this all the time with filters like color correct or audio filters.

1. how do you upconvert once it’s all captured? Capture as normal, new sequence that is 10bit, then place clips and render?
2. Is there an advantage of upconverting to 10bit since the footage came from a miniDV camera at 25mb stream? Is the purpose for going to broadcast quality? Or is it better for big screen projection? If only going to DVD, does it do anything at all since it gets compressed again?

I’ve used the 3 band equalizer in the FCP audio filters. The first part of the filter is the low frequency. I just take that to 150-300 Hz and take the gain to -10 or -15. That makes the deep rumble soften a little.

Good news and bad news. Results from tests conclude that indeed the PC1 will never walk again. It’s days as a deck and video recorder are over. However it is still able to think and see very well. So, I’ve found a new job for him: iSight. I’m going to donate this camera to my mom, who just bought a Mac, and now we can see each other while talking. I hate talking on the phone because I can’t see who I’m speaking to. But this way, my mom and I will be able to talk to each other as if were right next door. Thank you PC1. Your life still has purpose.
