it’s really not. You are altering the source file. You are placing text on the picture. It’s really quite simple. Drag clip to timeline. Drag filter over clip. File, export. How is that labor intensive? You were already prepared to drag the filter and then export the clip. just one more step that takes about 10-15 seconds.

I figured out how to fix it. I hit F10 and which the AE window was highlighted, QUICKLY hit the menu at the top “After Effects”. then I was able to get to all the menus, including preferences.

Let me add one more thing. If you’re not going to PAL, then you can shoot 30fps progressive. The progressive images are prettier and will help you achieve that film look.

Let me say this: if your customer wants the film “look”, the fps don’t make much of a difference. First, use camera settings that give the film “look”. Use cinegamma and whatnot. Next, use a higher or slower shutter speed than 1/60. Saving private ryan look can be had with camera settings and high shutter speed. Lastly, use color grading filters that give the look created by professionals. I’ve fooled many a person using these techniques without having to use 24p.

yeah, it sort of sounds like dvdsp is doing something when it burns the dvd if you say it plays correctly in the simulator of dvdsp.
Generally, this is my workflow. In FCP, I export a FCP self-contained movie file. (This I use to archive my final project without the extra compression.) then I use compessor to create the assets for dvdsp (I use an appropriate mpeg2 preset). Then in dvdsp I import the audio and video file assets.
After export from fcp, I check to make sure the file plays the way it should. After it’s compressed and in dvdsp, I use the simulator to make sure it plays correctly.

Yes, that will do it. I just did this myself. Make sure you go to the controls for the TCR.

is the footage slo-mo? That can cause the jitters. You can try a deinterlace filter on the specific footage.

you should mention how you add motion. If there is “no motion” does it still bounce around. What do you mean by “bounce around.”

You can get an ok (not hollywood film ok, but decent) key from FCP if you play with the sliders. I had a poorly lit scene and it comes out ok. But, you mihgt have luck with zMatte. It’s a tad better than FCP and is about $200. Or, you can use the Boris Continuim Complete chroma key, which is pretty good. But BCC costs about $800. The progressive nature of your images are easier to key, whichis good.
