Thanks,
It’s good to hear that it’s working, it just scared the hell out of me to see the same old crash.
As far as the use of the rubber bands:
I shoot and edit 3 camera shoots for $2000 ea. so it is critical that that slam through these things like nobody’s business.
The rubber band way of editing allows me to line up 1 hour clips w/o cutting them and blow through manually fading between the best shot.
I would love it if someone could explain how CS3 will do this more efficiently.
Thanks.

February 3, 2008 at 10:03 am in reply to: Looking to buy new camera for around 1,000 dollars. Any suggestions?http://www.camcorderinfo.com is really good at comparisons in this price range and lower. They actually have a rating system that is quite useful.
Lots of good single chip HDV camcorders around that price range now.

I think I researched this before I bought my Turion 64 dual core ..I think it’s a 2gig. CS3 ran OK during the trial period aside from a couple of the usual crashes.
I remember this being a real pain to research but the info is on the Premiere website somewhere I believe.
Double check because my memory is fuzzy.
If you think you’re going to edit HDV on a Turion you might be disappointed there as well but again I have not tried that yet. I heard you need a Core 2 Duo.
Good luck. The HP is a cheap computer but it works OK for standard def DV.

I’ve got the DVX-100 and currently have no further use for it because it shoots wide screen in a cropped mode rather that a squeeze mode.
This means much lower res in wide mode and I have to do a bunch of messing around to be able to edit it with me squeeze mode cameras.
Go for the 100, or save a step and switch to HDV now.
Cheers.

February 2, 2008 at 7:11 am in reply to: PV-GS500, is this the best camera to get or can you suggest another?I have both for sale if you’re looking. The GS-500 is practically new. Both Cameras are incredible and I am deeply in love with them.
The PV-GS500 is very similar in quality to the Cannon GL2 although much less expensive and I love the way I can run around with it because it’s so small and light. Only thing I do not love about the GS-500 is that you can gather excellent audio but there is no headphone out to make sure that your are doing so.
The Panasonic DVX-100 is legendary of course and can be had for a song these days.
I agree with Noah, I think if you can stretch it I would grab a used good condition DVX-100, especially if you are trying to start a business or shoot anything where you are capturing CD quality audio.
Good luck!

July 23, 2007 at 6:07 am in reply to: Can’t install Premiere (tried 5 different version!) on new laptop with Windows Vista.Huge help to know that it is working with Premier Pro 2 and 3! Great to hear a similar HP system runs it….great for my troubleshooting.
Not ready to switch to Vegas!
I will attempt running the “de-crap” software as that has already been recommended by others.
The computer really is gorgeous on every other level so now that the memorial is over I think my “juju” may be a little better. Had to call the cops on the mourning drug addict brother of my girlfriend’s deceased this evening. Certainly not thinking as clearly as I would like.
I will retry with more patience, a better outlook and give Vista a chance.
Once again appreciating all the support from the COW.
Thank you, thank you, thank you.

Just a bit frustrated right now.
Girlfriend’s dad just passed and my tolerance for these types of issues is lower than normal. I don’t want to switch to Vegas although I know that may prefer it.
I will try downloading the new trial version of Premier again.
The issue I had was that after it downloaded all 680 + megs, the file was nowhere to be found.
Maybe I have to find “show files” in vista somewhere, but this is pretty basic stuff.
Thanks again.

July 22, 2007 at 7:20 am in reply to: Can’t install Premiere (tried 5 different version!) on new laptop with Windows Vista.I think it’s “Vista Home Premium.”
I think I’m going to dump Vista and start fresh with XP Pro.
I’ve never been a beta tester for Microsoft in the past and there is no reason to start now.
I have spoken to 3 different friends (Engineers) who have all bought new computers with Vista and dumped it after similar issues.
Why mess around?….
Maybe I should take back the HP ….I suppose finding drivers for their stuff could prove to be a nightmare as well.
I hate new computers. Should probably go back to building my own.
