Does your program monitor go black? Or does it just freeze on a frame?

Also, what are you on? Mac/PC? And a few system specs might be helpful. RAM, Drives, Media storage – how full are they?

Hope you got this figured out by now.. I haven’t been in the AME forum in awhile. But one thing to try is rendering Software only, turn off the accelerated hardware encoding. If that doesn’t work, there may be an issue with a file or plugin at the timecode. I was having that sort of issue on my home PC with GPU renderer until the latest updates. Never had it on my work Mac.

  • Don’t charge. That’s one of the costs of being in this business. It needs to be built into your costs. Used to be you had to buy tape monthly and keep/store those masters. Now it’s data/hard drives. But, if someone comes in asking about something that was shot 10 years ago or more, and we’ve done nothing with the footage since then, I can’t say we’ll have it. Simply because of data loss over so many years – whether failed drives or data corruption on the drives. But if we’ve used it on more current projects, then I’ll usually have it with each associated project.

Do you have a typical sequence setting you use for most of your projects? What I do, since my biggest export is for broadcast, is I have set up a template folder. Inside that folder I have folders for audio, video, graphics, animation or AE, and an export folder. All my associated files go into those folder, possibly in other folders. And a template PPro project with the settings I like and bins set up to mirror my folders. Then I just duplicate my project folder, rename it to whatever project I’m working on, and rename the PPro project file inside – that’s what I work from. That way everything stays the way I like it when I open that project and everything self-contained and organized. 🙂

That’s how I handle that. So I don’t have to select all kinds of settings whenever I make a new project.

Try this. Create a new project, and a new sequence to work on. Import your previous project/sequence, and copy/paste your old timeline onto the new one.

There are some big holes in your process that would help if you filled in details.

You added your 4K footage into Premiere, good. What is the frame rate? You made a new sequence using 1080p and what are your other settings for this sequence?

Then you exported from Premiere or Adobe Media Encoder? – what were your export settings? What codec (h264?) used and file container (mp4, QT?)?

Be pretty specific in your sequence of events and we may be able to help you narrow down where the issue may be.

  • From what I gather, the sphere is the only chroma key item in the shot, correct? What Mark says would work.

I’m thinking the easiest thing to do is duplicate the track, so your video is on V1 and V2. Chromakey the V2 track to cut out the sphere. Then add lumetri color to V1 to adjust the sphere colors to your liking.

Second, the Pleasantville effect that Mark suggests should work as well.

    Good Luck!

I wonder if it has to do with your RAM. That is a low amount of RAM for working with 4k material. Might be taxing the system way to much in page files. And then if Chrome has a great deal of cached pages/files, it could be too much. How much space do you have on your system drive and media drive? Where are you storing your media and cache files?

  • Yes. Deleting preferences should help with that. I’m not sure why a custom workspace would make a difference… but strange things have been known to happen on updates. 🙂

Press Alt (Windows) or Option (Mac OS) while launching Premiere Pro. You can release the Alt key or Option key when the splash screen appears. To reset preferences and plug-in cache at the same time, hold down Shift-Alt (Windows) or Shift-Option (Mac OS) while the application is starting.
