You will need to save the files as some other format than Illustrator file (.ai). You may be better off just using Photoshop. You can import the PS files directly, with layers. PS CS also has “new file” templates for video, no need to worry about sizes, but then FCP will import without squishing anyways – without sizing to fit. TC
You should be able to import the files with no problem. I don’t quite understand how you’re importing a folder. I’d just import all your files into a bin. Make sure the jpg files are RGB though.

Keep in mind that if you upgrade to QT7 Pro, you will need to get a new registration for QT. Plus, I don’t know if QT7 and FCP 4.5 play well together.

These are greyed out because they are most likely ACC mp4 files. If these are your legal production music files, you will need to convert them to AIFF 48k files. These work best with FCP. If they are music files you downloaded from iTunes Music Store, you’re better off not using them in your production.

I think many broadcasters don’t have an audio processing for their digital signals. Most have them for their analog audio, but just pass the digital audio through. Cable is most likely worse.
