  • Importing Titles from Illustrator to FCP4 – NTSC

I shot my project NTSC mini-dv (29.97) and I plan to stay on video.

I plan to creat my titles with Illustrator. Here’s my question

    1) Can I import the titles directly into my FCP project?
If not, then how? Can I use Quicktime?

    2) Regarding the pixel resolution, to avoid my titles looking “squished” I plan to create the titles in Illustrator as 720×540, and then import them into FCP as 720×486.
    Is this correct?

    THANKS FOR YOUR HELP

You will need to save the files as some other format than Illustrator file (.ai). You may be better off just using Photoshop. You can import the PS files directly, with layers. PS CS also has “new file” templates for video, no need to worry about sizes, but then FCP will import without squishing anyways – without sizing to fit. TC
