You could create your random text, extrude it a little, put it in a cloner object and select Mode of the cloner to object. Create your object and drop that in the object box for the cloner.

I did it with a simple cylinder with 10 height segments and 10 rotation segments, set the cloner to up vector: none and mode to polygon center.

Let me know if that works for you.

That’s what happens when I rely too much on a tool, I don’t branch out. Thanks Adam.

And yes, apparently V2.0 of HDR Shop is no longer free. I’m still using the old version.

    Hi Lasse –

The best way I’ve found, and the way I have my students do their own is to use HDR Shop:

    https://www.hdrshop.com/

You can take RAW images and merge them together in Photoshop, but HDR Shop is the thing I use for converting them to useful images.

    Hope that helps.

    Hi Jonas –

I haven’t seen those errors before.

I hate to be obvious, but have you downloaded the C4D/AE plugin fresh from the Maxon site, and/or deleted your prefs for After Effects?

The main body color for the extrude should be the first tag, then you can add the color for your fillet with the R1 or R2 selection or the color for your cap with the C1 or C2 selection.

Doesn’t matter which order they are in after the main body color. If that texture tag falls AFTER the other two, it will override it.

    Hope that helps.

    Hi Benito –

So you want it to look like this:

If so the spline wrap will work…I can explain it.

    Just let me know.

    Hey Mark –

Sorry it’s taken me a bit to get back to you. I haven’t come up with anything that simulates the effect from Dan’s site.

I’ll continue working on it tonight while my students are in lab and post something if I figure it out.

Without knowing exactly what that entails, I really can’t say what you might have done to turn the grids off.

If you could supply more info, I might be better able to help.

    Thanks.

You might also want to check the Filter menu in each of the views. See if you’ve turned off GRID or any other items. If you pull down and select all, it should turn everything back on.

    Hi Anthohy –

Depending on what you did, you can use the top icon on the left command palette and select the Standard Layout.
