Ok, I am really new at cinema 4d. in fact I have just started to learn it within the last 2 weeks. So far things are going pretty good but I have a small problem. when I installed the program, everything was perfect but starting about 2 days ago, whenever I launch cinema 4g, the program starts without any grid lines in the front, side or top view. Without these lines it will be a little hard for me to model anything. The last thing I remember doing was learning how to set a blueprint and make it transparent so I can trace over it. Could this be the problem? is there anyway to reset the program back to its default setting as if it were the first time opening it?

    Hi Anthohy –

Depending on what you did, you can use the top icon on the left command palette and select the Standard Layout.

You might also want to check the Filter menu in each of the views. See if you’ve turned off GRID or any other items. If you pull down and select all, it should turn everything back on.

yea, i have tried both and nothing seems to work. any other ideas as to what could cause the grids to go away? i know for sure the last thing i did before this happened was to try a walk through to trace blueprints for buildings useing the grids.

Without knowing exactly what that entails, I really can’t say what you might have done to turn the grids off.

If you could supply more info, I might be better able to help.

    Thanks.

I can’t think what it might be other than the grid filter. If all else fails, try trashing your prefs directory. If you want to try that, go to editor>preferences and click the open folder button at the bottom of the dialogue. Then move or rename the prefs directory.
