What kind of “help” do you need?

Zoom positon #2 is really “off” so that you don’t accidently zoom when carrying the camera. It’s actually nice to have that.

I once had this warning happen when I tried to eject a tape with a near-dead battery. When I changed the battery, I still got the warning.
On the DVX100-A there’s a “reset” button near the audio input selects inside the LCD compartment. I followed the procedure in the DVX manual and pushed the reset button with the end of a paper clip.
If you haven’t caused some mechanical issue with the camera by, as Noah says, dropping it, you might try this.
Good Luck,

Barry,
Thanks for your response! I’m leaning towards the record check mode since that is the only thing of what you mentioned that I would have done. Batteries were good, and I didn’t toggle the VTR/VCR switch during the day.
And since it was about :06 seconds both times, that is about the time it takes to do the rec check.
GOOD to know for the future!
Cheers,

Thanks Noah.
AEP does have a setting to capture from a Non-controllable device, but to activate it, you need to open the Capture tool.
I’m gonna check into this again, but it sounds like the DVX should be able to record to tape AND output via the firewire connector simultaneously. If NOT, please let me know I’m wrong.
Thanks Noah,

You would do well to adhere to the Avid specifications.
They can be found at:

Good luck.

I’m in pre-production stages of a student film…I think I’d like to raise funds to buy a DVX-100, but I have a couple questions about it first.
First: Is the camera actually capable of recording in HD onto a DVCPro tape?…or is the only way to record in HD format by using the P2 cards? The DVX-100 does not record in HD. You might be thinking of the HVX-200 (ours just arrived today!) That unit has a mini-DV tape mechanism for recording SD material. All HD material is captured onto the P2 Cards.
Second: What would it be like to try to edit a 60 minute film shot in HD on my IMac G5 with 2 gigs of ram? Would it be next to impossible?…or not so bad?”
RAM is one issue, processor speed is another, as well as your editing software. What’s your software call for to editing in HD? Do you have that on your machine?
Good luck,

Noah has a good point.
As far as Macro on the 100, get close to your subject and keep spinning the focus ring. While the 100 doesn’t have a “macro” focus button/switch persay, it does a very good job in macro focus situations. Have you tried it?
My thoughts.
