This cropped up on the AGX100p: “Auto Off Cylinder Lock”. I’m pretty sure that’s a problem with the tape transport. Is there any easy way to fix this? (There’s no repair facility anywhere near us).

It indicates a fault in the tape transport system. This can happen if the camera suffers an impact i.e. is dropped. Sometimes it develops on its own too. Most likely it needs to be serviced.

I once had this warning happen when I tried to eject a tape with a near-dead battery. When I changed the battery, I still got the warning.

On the DVX100-A there’s a “reset” button near the audio input selects inside the LCD compartment. I followed the procedure in the DVX manual and pushed the reset button with the end of a paper clip.

If you haven’t caused some mechanical issue with the camera by, as Noah says, dropping it, you might try this.

    Good Luck,
