Ah, guys…take it easy on Carl.
It isn’t the most earth-shattering feature in the app for sure. I used to use an empty title doc myself for most functions like this, as someone else mentioned too…
I just don’t think it’s such a big deal that it’s worth raising your blood pressure over…

I’ve got a project on Steven’s (Gotz…see head above) website on using a track matte for a title…I would think Chris Wrigley would have something on his site…
The track matte behavior has changed from PPro 1.x to v2…so that’s important. The tutorials out there are for v1.x at this point I suspect.

I might try to grab a freeze of the curtains at the best exposed point where the talent’s head exposes the most curtain area…then try the multiply keyer…but if you don’t have PPro v2…the multiply keyer doesn’t work.
…then you’ll need AE, which I’d prefer for this type of a fix anyway, personally.
As an alternative, try a track matte. Put the video directly over itself on a higher track and turn off that track (in Ppro versions earlier than 2) and then put your curtain grabbed frame on another track. Key the curtains into the overexposed areas using “luma” on the matte setting. The only thing I might wonder about on this would be if you’ll end up with curtains keyed onto his head highlight…I suspect you might.

I always find it interesting how spending mere hours with an application gives one complete insight over all existing workflows in every possible situation with a feature they’ve never seen before.
I’ve never had the opportunity to even consider the invisible clip feature’s potential uses yet (and I’ve had the app for a bit) …I’ll reserve judgement.

Conformed audio’s purpose was to speed audio FX response due to the elimination of any encode/decode or conversion steps. The audio guys brought in to redesign PPro’s audio had past connections to Pro Tools…they have some reasons for what they did. PPro 1 had audio response that was incredible.
The specs on conformed audio are 32 bit files at the sample rate of the project BTW, not 96k, 24bit.
In PPro 2, this has largely been eliminated as audio files with a 1:1, 1:2, or 2:3 sample rate ratio to the project’s sample rate won’t be conformed. I suspect this will affect the audio reponse of the app somewhat, though I have no idea just who will use it hard enough to hit the wall…

You would have to use the clip twice…once full screen, then once again above the first clip with the garbage matte applied to restrict the area that the second clip occupies.
The problem with the garbage matte has for this sort of thing is that it can’t soften the edge like the Canopus filter can. You might want to try a track matte if that’s important.

Xena HDSDI card. My point was there is no hardware acceleration for performance…just the HDSDI card for I/O. You can set up a generi system for uncompressed with the same off-the-shelf I/O card, it’s not proprietary to CineForm.

I have a Prospect system…it works very well. No added cards and it will run compressed HD from a SATA RAID instead of uncompressed from a SCSI subsystem, which saves some money.
The image quality is excellent. The Prospect HD system was used to Post the film “Dust to Glory” last year…online and back to film, so the codec is pretty damn good.

Have you tried a different clip?
also…have you tried to export a shorter version of the same clip…or simply re-exporting the entire thing? Maybe there is one corrupt frame in there…
Also../.the drive you are rendering to is not formatted FAT 32 is it? There is a filesize limitation that may be biting you if that’s the case.

I have DVDs and a book as well as do live instruction/consulting for Adobe and CineForm products and Steven Gotz has training materials too (in fact Premiere Pro books and other material seems to be an industry in itself of late). That doesn’t necessarily mean I want users to remain frustrated until I show up.
Plus…if you SELL systems and complain about features not being there that are…that’s not good for any of us.
I’m glad I could improve the software for you… 😉
