‘With regards to the cursor, if I hit stop during playback, it always returns to where I started playback. Is there an option to have the cursor stop on the point where I hit stop? This makes it easier to edit to audio if I can stop it right on the beat. ‘

    Just hit the pause button…

The easiest way would be to ‘pan’ the arrow with a motion tracker (like e.g is present in the Vegas plugin Boris FX).

To do it manually, you can do it by using keyframes in the track motion window (which you can open with the button at the track header).

This looks like a problem with the formatting of your hard disk. probably it is formatted as FAT32 instead of NTFS.

You can change this without the need to reformat your disk and without any loss of data.

If you are working under Windows XP:
Go to your DOS box and type Convert X:/FS:NTFS

(X stands for the letter of the disk!!).

And which codec is used for these avi files? (If you don’t know, you can use GSPOT to find out).

    Did you try network rendering?
I have noticed that project that render fine with Vegas pro 8, give sometimes this memory error in Vegas pro 9. Even if there is no network available for rendering, selecting the network render option (in the render tab) many times solves the problem.

February 17, 2010 at 3:34 pm in reply to: Vegas 9.0c Will Not Render

‘I’m about to give up on Vegas. I don’t buy the “running low on memory” any more. I upgraded to 9.0c in hopes I could render more than 30 minutes before I get this message of running low on memory because now it will only render 2 minutes before I now get the “running low on memory” error.’

Never give up when you are so close to the finish…

Did you try network rendering? Even if there is no network available for rendering, selecting this option (in the render tab) usually avoids the low memory error message, resulting in a normal rendering process.

When you have a problem that your project becomes to big, you may start working with sub projects. Just divide your footage over multiple projects. Then prepare all these subprojects independent of the others. And when finished, import all these sub-projects into your main project as nested projects (without redering first). If you then still wants to make a change in such a subproject, the main project will be updated automaticly.

Temporary tracks are just tracks I create to store certain events (or copies of events) temporary. Sometimes this is so that I can decide later whether I want to use them or because I want to use them in a later timepoint of the project.
Before rendering the final project, I delete these temporary tracks again.

‘Can you tell me how you organize your shots into segments pls.’

I just drop all the footage on the timeline. There I have a nice overview of what I shooted. On the timeline I can rearrange the order of the clips, cut them in pieces if needed, remove whole clips if they are not needed, drag them temporary on a temporary track, trim them using ripple edit, rolling edit, slip edit etc.
And if you still like to work with subclips, you can also create them from the timeline. I can do everything I need on the timeline. But the timeline offers much more space and flexibility then the trimmer.
So my first step after dropping all the footage (video and audio) on the timeline is making a crude selecting on where the clips should be and how they should be trimmed. in a second round, I add effects, create compositions and finally add graphics from external programs like photoshop, AE, PI etc.

February 16, 2010 at 12:51 pm in reply to: Help Please! Bit Rate Too Low DVDA??

Yesterday I got the same error message. The message was not only for the video (MPEG2) but also for the menu background (a still that I created in photoshop and imported into DVDA as either .jpg, .tiff, ,png or .psd).

More funny, I got the same error messages when I tried to burn with DVDA Studio.

The DVDA used was the latest version, installed on a new Windows 7 64bits PC.

Since nothing helped, I just uninstalled and re-installed DVDA and then the problem was gone.

Probably this will help for you too
