When I try to import AVI files into Sony Vegas it says that these files are unsupported. It’s not a problem with Quicktime. What can I do?

And which codec is used for these avi files? (If you don’t know, you can use GSPOT to find out).

The avi codec is XVID and GSPOT says that my computer can read those codecs….now what do I do next?

OK, your computer can read XVID files, but Vegas doen’t like them. It means that you will have to convert these XVID files before you import them into Vegas.

I don’t know much about Sony Vegas…I’m an FCP guy…..but I’m using Sony Vegas as part of an internship with a film distributer…..
