Backing Bill here, Avid is very weak on resizing and encoding outputs. Best to go out straight and let a third party program encode for you. MC comes with a free copy of Sorenson Squeeze, did you install that?

If you select the “Source/Record” toolset under the toolset menu what happens? If it fills one monitor, then adjust it to where you want and then select “save current”under the same menu and now each time you select that toolset you will have the same layout. You can expand upon this by using “workspaces” which I suggest you look up in the help menu and start suing religiously.
Once you do that, you will find that with one customized keystroke, you will be ably to have the perfect layout for whatever you are trying to do.

Got it.
Yes, MC does export timecode, but only in the newer versions. I don’t remember if this came in 3.5 or 4.0.

You cannot encode it in Avid products at this point. You can keep it if you capture and spit back out without changing anything in the picture.
If you want to cheaply encode your CC files, FCP 7 + Kona 3 allow you to do that.

Try bringing it in to an SD 23.98 sequence, then converting it in Avid to 720P 23.98. Or better yet, go to 1080P 23.98. (I hate 720P mastering)

That is “Secondary Color Correction” and is only available on the Symphony software unless I missed a change.
At any rate, secondary CC allows you to isolate colors and change them independently of the rest of the image. A wild example is take a red car and make it blue without affecting the rest of the picture.
More common uses are to adjust skies and skin tones without change everything else.

Yes, you can find the Avid codecs on the Avid site.
As for the “field issue”, that may be a resizing issue also.
Try exporting as a Quicktime movie with no compression. Also, what resolution are you working in?
