have print outs of the bins with this info PLUS thumbnails – “there is no way” is a bit too strong because you can do this with a high-res screen shot containing every information on the paper you need , maybe it’s not that elegant just to hit print but it works fine ,
and yes Final Script from DigiHeaven is designed exactly for thissimilar to an Avid Script view – yes it’s similar to an avid script view

Yes, you have this option.Thumbnails, list views , icons.You can do the same things in FCP7 like Avid’s Script View.

If you want to keep the perspectives with the outdoor and indoor shoot you should keep the HD 1.7 aspect, as well.S-video can’t do it ,DVI might do this for you but you still need an external device that brings you the signal to the computer and if you have an external box you should use that for all monitoring.That’s more reliable.I work a lot with livefeeds and I don’t recommend you this.
The best solution would be Red Rocket and by this way you don’t “loose” anything.It runs 4K on every device which is compatible and a perfect laptop solution but it’s not budget friendly at all mainly not for just checking the screen.Another optimal solutions could be those ones Andy told you.
Without an I/O box you can’t do this in the exact way you need if a computer is used for this.
Without a computer, using a video mixer (comptatible of course) from the camera HD-SDI output connected to a decent monitor you can switch between the keyed still frame+live and only live screens.

If I take into account this above your best way is to use a video mixer which is able to use custom frames (or connect a device to the mixer which has the stillframe source) and a monitor.Computer isn’t necessary for this purpose.It’s a budget question of course but I think it’s still cheaper than buying a software.
If you want to use a computer and software based mixing , try this (but I guess, it’s only for Windows) : MediaLooks Video Mixer 1.1.2.1
In my experience you can’t do this in FCP.

I think you switched your canvas from image mode to wireframe.In the canvas window at the top there are 3 buttons.Use the right one and set it back to “Image” as well as set the left one to “Fit to window”.
If the problem still exists it should be something deeper than just a simple setting question, I think.

Partitioning always should be avoided in my opinion too.Significantly slow things down, mainly if you work with them in the same project.(and you do)

So it seems you tried everything but it sounds like a software setting question , maybe you skipped this one :
The timeline settings must be the same as your monitor system.Otherwise the exactly same thing happens what you described.So , if you use an NTSC monitor your timeline codec setting must be NTSC (any kind of NTSC).Refresh device , All Frames then it should work.

Have you tried to change the codec setting in your timeline?AppleProRes can do a good job and hopefully won’t crash on your system(s).
I worked with XDCam HD and XDCam footage on FCP6 (not 7 so far) and it worked fine and reliable.The only thing was that it rendered much slower when I used the native XD codec for the timeline.AppleProRes could help a lot make it faster and less render.It might be more stable, who knows.

– Yes there is a way to do that.Use Cinema Tools software which comes with FCS.BUT
If you want to transfer/conform the footage which is already edited but blurry it will be blurry (maybe not that much) after you conformed it.Only the frame rate will change, the quality won’t be as the same as your original 24fps was.

– Do you mean you transferred 24fps footage as 29fps into FCP?How did you do that with simple log and transfer?
I think, if you just used log and transfer in FCP the footage you imported is 24fps.Your timeline might be 29fps.If so, just change the settings of your timeline to 24fps and make sure not to leave the gaps on the timeline after set it to 24fps.Do a backup first!Tamas Erdosi / http://www.tamaserdosi.eu
