    wow. i had no idea…

i have a few friends with the Z1U and they SAY they love it, both the images it shoots and editing in FCP. as for the JVC, i haven’t heard much about it locally, though my dealer seems to like it. it’s really that hard to edit in FCP, eh? i guess i’ll keep looking unless someone on here has a good pipeline for its format.

as for my Decklink card, it says it has the codecs for all these formats. i don’t see why i can’t import and export video in those formats. what am i missing here (besides a complete brain)?

    : )

    i’ve made a little progress here…

went back a ways in my autosave vault, and loaded a working project (though 2 days old). it loaded fine, but had to be re-directed to a few assets that i moved, getting ready to archive everything. it found everything, but came to a Motion project that had been “reconnected” to FCP, but the graphics themselves weren’t all there within the Motion project overlay. so i went into Motion, loaded that project file, and found IT was looking for assets as well…so i reconnected that stuff. most all was successful, except for an image sequence that is supposed to load into a layer of Motion. upon searching for this sequence, i directed it to the right folder, the files were all there, but ghosted – i couldn’t select any, so that sequence would not successfully re-connect to the Motion project, and therefore would not show up in FCP either.

anyone know how to reconnect an image sequence that is ghosted?

no, FCP will open with no project, and will open some projects…but just not the one i really need right now! : ) from my PC days, the answer would be that “something” or “some file” that this project file uses has gotten corrupted which is crashing the program when it tries to open the file. i really think the problem is more with the project file than with FCP itself…but maybe not?

November 26, 2005 at 4:28 am in reply to: audio and viddeo are out of sync PLEASE HELP

    Jeff,

It sounds like Larry is on to something here. i’ve just noticed a similar problem, though i wasn’t capturing via firewire, but i was capturing direct to my external LaCie drive. i didn’t know what the problem was, whether i lost sync during the compression to m2v, or what, but i saw some drift, as well as some skipped frames. other frames showed up in the FCP timline with some green blocks, and still others would be a full screen of green, some full black. if you have time, i would suggest re-capturing to your internal media drive (if ye have one). unfortunately, i don’t have this luxury as my original footage is gone (back with client), but fortunately my footage was mostly of my son’s football team (sync not a major problem) and i can edit around most of the dropped/green frames.

    Good luck!

Thanks. I rendered, but the blooming was still there, but once i output through Compressor and made the DVD, it all looked fine. Thanks for the encouragement!

aha! reading through the other thread, ” “, i found the answer…changing the device setting to “Non-controllable device” (i figured this setting would only work with wives!)

    thanks for the forum!

October 20, 2005 at 7:04 pm in reply to: 12 tracks of audio?

    interesting…
i’ve trashed my prefs, restarted, then looked in my FCP setup. under “QT audio settings”, i am using Decklink Audio for device and input, but under format the only option is “48k 24-bit, 12-channel”. this appears to be the culprit…
