Is there audio on all of the extra tracks?

Sometimes there are voices in my head. What are the extra tracks saying to you?

Did you change a set-up to capture 12 tracks of audio?

Oh wait, one of my head-voices just told me to tell you to try “Trashing” the FCP preferences. (And we can’t ignore head-voices!)

A great way to do this is to use “FCP Rescue” a free Apple Script that will Trash the Preferences for you (and restore nearly all of your user settings afterward).
There are versions for FCPro & FCExpress.

If you haven’t adjusted your clip settings b4 you log the clip then, once you have logged the clips, control click the clip in the bin and go to clip settings, you can then adjust how many audio tracks you want and whether you want mono or stereo files.

i’ve trashed my prefs, restarted, then looked in my FCP setup. under “QT audio settings”, i am using Decklink Audio for device and input, but under format the only option is “48k 24-bit, 12-channel”. this appears to be the culprit…

This one got me after upgrading to 5.0 as well. In the log and capture window you need to uncheck (mute) audio channels 3-12. You’ll have to scroll down on the clip setting window audio section to see it. I still haven’t figured out how to tell it stereo or ch1+2 though. Anyone?

I think that choice is gone now.

Doesn’t matter anyway.

Adjust it during the edit with a few keystrokes.
