Or, check with your local production houses and TV stations. We have some just lying in boxes in the storeroom and I’m sure I’m not alone on this one. When we sell off our old analog decks, the cables usually stay behind.

The only help you need is to tell these grinders to go find another sucker to do their job for nothing. Why in the world would you torture yourself just to cut a feature film for someone who will reap all the benefits later and forget about your existance?
Take 4 hours that you would spend working for these losers and market yourself to someone who is a professional and is willing to pay a fair price for the work that you are capable of. When these types of people call us, we send them to the local college, where they belong.
When they ask on the phone, “What can I get for $200?”, I say “We’re almost there right now”. They hang up and I go back to work making a fair living.

There is no difference between DV, mini DV, DVCAM or DVCPRO images. Depending on where your movie is right now, (I would assume that it is still in your edit system), you might look at exporting in DVCPRO50 codec which will give you better edge detail and fine detail. Also, get some Sony DVCAM Mastering tape to record to. It gives richer color and is virtually drop-out free.
As Noah said, if you could export to Digibeta, you would most likely get a very nice image. This could be expensive though.
At NAB, Apple’s big dog and pony show was all done from a computer displaying an H.264 compressed file. WOW!
Why go with a different projector than the theater already has? Can you get in to do a few tests? What did you shoot it on? What are you editing on and with what codec?

On the one that I mentioned, it has 1/8″ pin video and audio ports and a switch that makes them innies or outies. The screen is a 8.5″ 16×9 which would be perfect for your stretched video.
Pretty nice little unit for the bucks. Most that have inputs are hundreds more. Circuit City is supposed to carry them. We buy through a distribution house that has discontimued the Go-Video line for some political reason. Go-Video’s stuff is made by Samsung.
Anything else? Oh, the batteries are not so good. Have something else available.

With the super wide glass, you can knock out the background by moving about 15″ from your subject. Not like Panavision, but noticable.
