Sounds like the DC to DC converter. If you are a technician, remove all power, pull the large cover off of the tape side of the camcorder, look near the rear of the camera and you will see a shiny metal box. See if it is loose. If so or even if not, unplug it and plug it back in. Sony did not build in a holder for this item and it could have shaken loose. Make sure it’s in it’s slot securely and repower the camera.
This has happened to me twice. I now have a rubber pad inside the cover which keeps light pressure on the converter.
There are also a dozen (14) boards on the switch side of the camera that could have come loose, but not likely.
If it’s a rental camera, call the emergency number that came with the unit.
Also, ALWAYS turn the power switch OFF before changing batteries or power connections. It has a built in buffer which prevents power surges.

I would unplug it for a few hours. Let the memory drain and start it up and go back to work. DO NOT throw water on it.

Don’t they have “string tabs” on them, a small tab with a place to tie a string, fishing line, strong thread, or whatever and then attach that to the camera someplace. I would look at the ones on my camera but my faithful employees lost all four during the first 30 minutes of ownership.

We always, or at least when possible, have our audio person in a room away from production. If you are wearing your phones at the camera, there is no actual solution. The only problem is that sooner or later, you’ll probably go insane.

We have a Canon 11×4.7 lens for our HD F-900 camera. It allows us to shoot in a 10 x 10 room, a motor vehicle, an elevator, almost anywhere.
A lot of people skimp on their lenses because they don’t see a difference. If you hook up to a top of the line monitor with YUV cables, you will definitly see the improvement in picture quality, increased light, and the ability to fine focus.
We paid $26,000 for our lens. I’m sure that yours will be less.
While you’re testing lenses, try out some primes.

Absolutely! As soon as someone wants to infringe on their watertight patents. In other words, don’t count on finding anything that mounts on a helicopter with a pilot in it. They spent a LOT of money getting their design OK’d by the FAA and then slapping a long number of patents on that device.
We have a guy here in Phonix that has a remote control chopper that works pretty darn slick.

Sony’s first DV camera was the VX-1000. It’s desendent was the VX-2000.
Different company, similar numbers.The HVX200 promises to shake the world a little bit.

the AG-DVX100A is probably the most popular camera in production since the AG-450. The 450 was THE camera to have for S-VHS and the 100 is king of the hill in Mini-DV.
We shoot feature films (sorry, we’ve got the Sony F-900 for that) and my first AC just ordered a new DVX100A as his personal camera. We have looked at everything on the planet and for today, the 100A makes more sense than anything.
As for Noah’s remark about this being the 100A forum, you can bet that any complaints are going to show up right here before anywhere else in the world.
The DVX100A? I own two. No Z1s for us.

Thank you very much. Too bad that you actually missed the point that I was making. 1 inch can make a big difference when shooting in very tight quarters. When I shoot vertical from the back seat of a Bell Ranger helicopter, I have to actually remove my Anton Bauer adapter plate so that I can maneuver. The plate is 3/8″ thick. We then get power with a right angle 4 pin adapter and cable in order to make things happen. As you get older and more experienced, you’ll learn two things: Learn from those who have way more experience and quit trying to be a wise a–.
