Same here, Jim. I’m using Cisco 2960G and 3560-X gigabit switches; maybe I’ll try swapping out that 2960 and see if I notice any improvements.

Awesome! Thanks for providing me with that confirmation; that’s why I wanted to check since it was included in the updated features notes on the 10.3/10.4 page. I resolved my issue and am now seeing the effect as expected. To do this I held shift+option at the application’s start (that’s a quick way to reset preferences rather than trashing the physical pref. files). If that hadn’t worked, I was going to wait for further feedback here about whether or not others saw it and if they did then my next step would have been attempting a reinstallation of the application but luckily it worked (similarly, whenever some of the audio filters don’t appear following an update, that can be resolved by going into the audio plugins manager).

  • I don’t know if this is a fix to the same problem or not but I figured I’d share…

Simply move the entire application window around on the screen; just give it a nudge. Then you’ll be able to drag your asset media to the timeline. I’ve seen this same issue in Encore before and this always solved it (might have to do with workspaces or multiple display preferences etc.). Anyway, just figured I’d share in case it helps.

I had a similar issue with P2 media and found that removing the cache fixed this problem (although if you’re on a tight deadline, you can also use another app like FCP to ingest the clip in question and bounce the file over to Premiere Pro, importing it for use in your project there)

What I did was open up AME, open preferences, and select media > clean media cache database

    Hi Francisco,

I reached out to my friend for an update per your request. I was informed that when he contacted JVC about the issue they told him it was due to a bad CCD block and that it is an expensive repair with no garuntees that the issue will be resolved and work properly after the work is completed. You might want to ask and find out for yourself, but hope that steers you in the right direction.

Ah ha! Thank you, Richard!! I will definitely pass that along (I figured it had to be something simple like that).

    Hi Aaron,

    Try this…

Under “system settings” where you select your primary and secondary scratch disks etc. there is also a small option below that portion of the window where you can capture audio and video separately. Make sure this option is not selected. My best guess is that that’s what’s happening to you here.

    Hi Ben,

What you need is some simple third-party hardware such as a capture card that allows you to capture footage on the fly from an analog source. Blackmagic Design, Grass Valley (Canopus), and AJA are some of the more popular manufacturers to research against in this area. Hope this helps!

May 20, 2009 at 6:16 pm in reply to: No Video in viewer when scrubbing timeline

    Hi Jeff,

If you ask me, part of your issue seems perfectly normal. I say this because the moment you break away from the “viewer” and scrub along the timeline you’re now actually working on your comp/sequence. Therefore, it’s your “canvas” window that should become active (thus why the “viewer” pauses until you return to that window). Now, perhaps I’m misinterpreting your issue here…when you say “timeline” are you referring to the timeline asssociated with the sequence and are your windows properly displayed so that both the canvas and viewer are visible on your computer monitor? Or is your issue with controlling the playhead position when scrubbing in the space directly beneath the viewer window (above the jog/shuttle controls)?

    Joseph,

You may want to look into this for your Mac Pro/G5…

There are some solutions out there for switching on the fly right on the computer like that which allow it to record to hard drive. Off the top of my head I know Blackmagic Design offers one such solution and a software title called On-Air 2.0. If you have two of their cards installed you can achieve live mixing between two SD or HD sources. Look into it if you plan to do this a lot because if you can take advantage of HDMI out on your cameras and don’t mind having to hook them up to your computer you won’t have to worry about genlock.
