Adobe Premiere Pro CC & Apple ARD
Has anyone ever suffered performance issues when utilizing Apple Remote Desktop concurrently with Adobe Premiere Pro CC? If so, what steps have you taken to resolve it?
I have found that if I observe a client NLE on the network while that app is in use that all of a sudden the editor will experience lag when playing back content in their timeline.
To resolve it, one can either unplug the ethernet cable from the back of the editing computer or terminate the remote session in ARD.
So far I’ve been able to reproduce this issue on two different networks using a variety of Apple computer configurations…
Instances where ARD causes lag:
– Mac Pro Late 2013 model: 3.7 GHz Quad-Core Intel Xeon E5 w/12GB of memory and AMD FirePro D300 2048MB observing iMac Retina 5K Late 2015 model: 3.2GBz Intel Core i5 w/16GB of memory and AMD Radeon R9 M380 2048MB
– iMac Retina 5K Late 2015 model: 3.2GBz Intel Core i5 w/16GB of memory and AMD Radeon R9 M380 2048MB observing iMac Retina 5K Late 2015 model: 3.2GBz Intel Core i5 w/16GB of memory and AMD Radeon R9 M380 2048MB
– Mac Pro 2013 model: 3GHz 8-Core Intel Xeon E5 w/16GB of memory and AMD FirePro D700 6144MB observing MacBook Pro Retina Mid 2014 model: 2.6GHz Intel Core i5 w/8GB of memory and Intel Iris 1536MB
Instance where observing via ARD features no lag:
