And the Cineform intermedate codec uses a wavelet technology that is actually able to provide a higher quality (less loss) editing experience. I, for one, will be using Aspect HD 4.0 on January 20th.

However, since conforming is not necessary for DV clips, you won’t get multiple conformed files at least.

I hate that even though I own a few different apps, I don’t get credit for that when upgrading to one of the packages. I agree that Adobe needs a completely new Marketing department. The one they have has no grasp on reality.

I think you are being too tough on them. It is certainly worth 2.5 Cows, not just 2. It is not my favorite release of any in the last few years, that’s for sure. I flat out hate some of the new “features”. And I will continue to use Aspect HD for all of my HDV editing.

My guess is that it will be free for owners of Aspect HD, or a small upgrade fee. They have not charged us for any upgrades yet. And since everyone who edits HDV with Premiere Pro will now have to have Aspect HD or hang themselves from a high tree waiting for anything to happen (unless the have dual dual-core processors), there will be money flowing into Cineform like crazy.

You can do it in After Effects fairly easily. AE has the ability to que up a bunch of exports all at once. Then just go to bed while it does the exports. Although if you keep the same codec, it should be very fast.

Separating the two tracks becomes almost irrelevant when placed in a new sequence. The only thing in the sequence is that one clip and the two audio channels. If it is a stereo sequence with additional mono tracks created, then it will show up as stereo in the “main” sequence when you nest the “adjustment” sequence.

Also, the mixer does allow you to adjust the volume of the individual channels. Just apply the Channel Volume filter.

Or, you can separate into two mono tracks from the project window. Or, you can put it into a new sequence, make the changes with the audio mixer, and then use the sequence as a clip in other sequences.
