  • project import question for 2.0

wondering if this has changed/improved in 2.0. when i imported
a project into another project in 1.5, redundant clips could
not be removed and re-associated to a single instance of the
clip without losing the timeline references to the ones being
removed. this resulted in there being sometimes a great many
instances of a certain (or several) clips in the project
    creating a lot of clutter.

if my project uses clip ‘a’ and i import 3 more projects which
also each use clip ‘a’, i wind up with a total of 4 instances
of clip ‘a’. if i try to delete the extra instances of clip ‘a’
i can’t do so without them disappearing from the sequences in
    the imported projects.

what i want to do is take the imported redundant clips off line
and then re-associate the clips in the timeline to the original
    from the original project.

can i do this now in 2.0?

    thanks,
    BabaG

Unfortunately, if you were to import two project that referenced the same media, it would pull in two instances of that clip, one for each project. From your comments, it would appear that this is consistent with 1.5.

However, since conforming is not necessary for DV clips, you won’t get multiple conformed files at least.

well, that’s something, i guess. but imagine this
    scenario:

i have a piece with 30 scenes, each of which makes
use of a library in addition to its own clips. if
i want to employ a workflow in which i put each
scene into its own project and import all of these
edited projects into a master project later, then
the master project will have 30 instances of the
library and all its clips. very inconvenient.

    thanks,
