If you don’t want to spend to much and learn FCP, get yourself the Mac Mini and buy Final Cut Express. If you are serious about editing and making money, invest in an iMac, Mac Pro or Mac Bok Pro. You also have the option of buying used. If you go the CHEAP way, you are going to spend more money in the long run.

FCP is backwards compadible via XML! So yes, you can open your the 5.1.2 project in 5.1.

trash your render files then try to open the project. If that does’nt work, move your media offline, if it opens, then you you have a corrupt media file.

Read Walter’s responce again. Both you and the recipient of the e-mail MUST have QT 7 installed on their system. I send H.264’s via e-mail all the time. I use the same technique as Walter. If my files are to large for e-mail, I will use yousendit.com.

Believe it or not, you have TOO much RAM. I have better performance on my G5 Dual 2.5 with 6 GB of RAM.

We need a lot more details to help you troubleshoot your system. Which AJA card. Input/outputs. System config. I would suspect something is not connected properly.
