Final Cut just won’t come out and play. I’ve got a Mac Power PC Duo 2.7Ghz, 5 GB ram, 10.4.8 and FC 5.1.2. Final Cut starts, but when it comes to loading video effects, it just quits. I’ve tried dumping the preference files, both system and user, and reinstalling the program. The other programs, Compression, Motion etc works just fine.
Anyone wiser than have some answers?

    I’ll be very grateful!

DId you do a clean install or just an update? Any 3rd party plugins or codecs installed that aren’t compatible?

trash your render files then try to open the project. If that does’nt work, move your media offline, if it opens, then you you have a corrupt media file.

Or, if you have any old Avid codecs loaded in the Library-Quicktime folder take them out…that did it for me.

Also, you may want to try loading an older version of your project from the Autosave Vault. You may have a corrupt project file that’s causing FCP to crash when it’s opening up.
